Refund Policy

A legal disclaimer

The explanations and information provided on this page are only general and high-level explanations and information on how to write your own document of a Refund Policy. Once an order has been placed and accepted, a customer may not avoid the shipping costs agreed to at checkout simply by refusing delivery, declining to pay a properly disclosed shipping charge, or deciding that the shipping cost is no longer acceptable.

Refund Policy - the basics

Having said that, If a customer refuses delivery because of shipping costs, fails to pay applicable delivery charges that were properly disclosed, or instructs the carrier to return the package, the incident may be treated as a refused shipment rather than a cancellation made before shipment.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the customer may be responsible for actual, documented, and legally recoverable costs resulting from the refusal, including original shipping expenses, return-to-sender charges, carrier handling fees, and other reasonable costs directly associated with the refused shipment.

What to include in the Refund Policy

Generally speaking, a refused, unclaimed, or returned shipment does not automatically entitle the customer to a full refund. Refund eligibility will depend on the circumstances of the order, the condition and recoverability of the merchandise, the reason delivery failed, the terms disclosed before purchase, and applicable law.

Where a refund is legally required or otherwise approved, the business may deduct only those shipping, return, handling, or other charges that were properly disclosed, actually incurred where applicable, and legally deductible. Original shipping charges are not refundable where a deduction is lawful and permitted under the applicable refund terms.

Nothing in this policy limits a customer's rights to a refund or other remedy where required by law, including where the business fails to fulfill its shipping obligations or the merchandise is defective or materially not as described.
